Here Damn!

Everyone’s posting all the time

So, hear me out…I’m a bit overstimulated or possibly a bit overexposed. Everyone’s everywhere, at all times, all at once. I mean, every time I open my phone, there’s someone there. Someone promoting, highlighting, sharing, and conversing. It’s like the hustle and bustle of the world continues to stir even after I’ve shut my apartment door and tuck myself into my bed. It’s a blessing to be connected and have people around, but this is not the presence of community; it’s the influx of people, product, and presentation. I would hate to see life as a constant pursuit of a digital detox, but increasingly, this is how I find people successfully alleviating themselves from the imposition of constant connection. I’m not saying that connection is bad, as it’s at the foundation of human nature and civilization, but our overexposure to the lives of family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers via technology is worth thinking about. When is it just enough, and when is it overkill?
