So, Hear Me Out…so far gone are the days in which students stared at computer screens or notepads for extended periods until an original thought was formed. The tension of budding imagination prompting critical thinking and creative discipline has become that of a memory. In favor of replacing the critique in critical thought with comfort, we have surrendered our cognitive interpretations, reasoning, and curiosity to instructional chatbots and input models. In doing so, we supplement our laziness and lack of patience with “progressive” technological advancement. Our ability to pull on our imagination informed by daily experiences, culture, and education systems is now threatened by the progressor of anti-academia, artificial intelligence. As an extension, we not only threaten our intelligence but our means of productivity, relationship building, and environmental health. What does this new reality say about us in terms of our evolution and where we take it?
